Welcome to ShaftEXP

STATUS: RESTORED // OFFLINE SYSTEM NOTICE

General Overview

ShaftEXP is a specialized IT research laboratory located deep within the Co-operative Republic of Guyana (South America). Originally founded in 1961, our facility was established to push the boundaries of early cybernetics, high-performance computing, and tropicalized data infrastructure environments.

Hardware & Mainframes

For decades, ShaftEXP operated as a high-tier computing node. The laboratory infrastructure is custom-built around complex computing architectures, heavily relying on:

  • MIPS RISC Architectures (for high-end floating-point processing and real-time 3D environments)
  • i386 Hardware Platforms (for local network routing, low-level control, and terminal operations)

Our core computational vaults run on mainframe solutions from IBM and Sun Microsystems, as well as elite workstation lines from Silicon Graphics Computer Systems (SGI), including historical deployments of:

  • SGI IRIS 4D (Superworkstations for early heavy graphics)
  • SGI IRIS Indigo & Indigo² (Iconic MIPS-powered UNIX workstations)
  • SGI Indy (The ultimate desktop graphics engineering node)
  • SGI Challenge & Onyx (Monster multiprocessing visualization supercomputers)

Timeline & Current Status

In 1987, all active research operations suddenly ground to a halt due to the tragic death of the laboratory's original owner and founder. Following years of stagnation, the facility was completely closed down and mothballed (reserved) in 1993.

After 32 years of silence, the facility was officially opened once again in 2025 by the direct heir of the original owner. The core mainframe vaults are currently undergoing a modern recovery process.

At this point in time, ShaftEXP does not provide any public commercial services or network access. This web terminal is for archival information only.
